I would like to spend an active holiday in Europe, is Slovenia right for that?

Slovenia is one of the greenest countries in Europe, Slovenia has the cleanest waters, Slovenia is safe, easily accessible. Slovenia was recently ranked as one of the safest countries in the world. Crime rates are extremely low and the police are reliable here.

Slovenia has a thriving adventure sports and outdoor scene, with Bled and Bovec serving as the epicenter of exciting activities. Rafting and kayaking along the Soča River, zip-lining, hiking, and cycling are just a few of the adventure activities available. Hikers can find endless paths across the Julian Alps, including the recently completed Juliana hiking trail, a 270km trail divided into 16 stages with daily distances ranging from 17km to 25km.

What are the main Slovenian sights, a must to see?
These are Ljubljana, chosen as the green capital of Europe, the Slovenian karst, and above all the Slovenian mountains: Triglav national park, river Soča, lake Bled and lake Bohinj. Slovenia is an excellent destination for package holidays and outdoor adventures or city breaks with your family. You’ll find plenty of swimming, boating, stand-up paddling, and waterside fun at Lake Bled and the Soca Valley offers white water rafting, canyoning, and hiking adventures that are also suitable for kids.

Where is the best place to stay if I want to see the whole of Slovenia?

Slovenia measures 200 km diagonally, so the land is possible to explore from one point, you just have to choose the right one. And our apartments in Kranj are positioned just perfectly, as capital city Ljubljana is only 25 kilometers to the south, and lake Bled is 25 kilometers north of the apartment.  Ljubljana airport is just 6 kilometers from our apartment,, and we offer a shuttle service from airport to our apartment.

Is Slovenia a good family destination for package holidays?

Definitely. Slovenia is an excellent destination for package holidays. At climbtriglav.com we offer outdoor adventures or city breaks, suitable also for families with kids. You’ll find plenty of swimming, boating, stand-up paddling, and waterside fun at Lake Bled and the Soča Valley offers white water rafting, canyoning, and hiking adventures that are kid-friendly.

When’s the best season to visit?

For outdoor activities summer is the best and ideal opportunity to discover Slovenia. During summer months you will discover Ljubljana’s social life on popular local spots such as food market, park Tivoli and on many live open air festivals. Lake Bled is ideal for swimming, and the Alps are welcoming climbers, hikers, cyclers from whole world.

In the spring (May-June), the meadows are ablaze with wildflowers, and the mountain peaks are blanketed with snow, and the weather is pleasant, if a little chilly at times.

Autumns in Slovenia (September to early November) is also unforgettable. The fall colors are spectacular, the crowds were sparse, and the package holidays are slightly less expensive during this period.

Slovenia is still so called off the beaten track destination, so there are not so many groups as you’ll discover in other significant European cities.

What kind of electrical adaptor do I require?

The Europlug (the two-pole plug with round pins, rated up to 250 volts and currents up to 250 volts) is used in Slovenia, so any European adapter should work. Check the voltage compatibility of your electronics and other plug-in devices; you might need a converter as well.

What is the best way for me to get around Slovenia?

Slovenian trains and buses are clean, dependable, and easy to navigate. If you choose to get around on foot or by bike, there are plenty of walking and cycling routes to choose from. You can rent a car if you want to go somewhere remote (like the wildly famous Hiša Franko restaurant and guesthouse), but you won’t need one for the most part, and getting around without one is easy.
