Tour description

The best time to do it, is from February to April while snow conditions are more stable, snow is thicker and a possibility for avalanches smaller. Obviously don’t do it right after a heavy snowfall, especially while there is a red alarm for avalanches.

It is totally conceivable to perform it in one day, if you don’t want to reach the top of Mt Triglav (because of the whipping part, without a doubt). But remember, the days are short, so start will be early.

Normaly takes 2 days to really experience the genuine delight of winter at our highest mountain and as well not that tiring. But in any case, the only option for getting a place to rest and eat is at the hut Triglavski Dom na Kredarici. Don’t expect luxury as the hut is officially shut during winter, yet meteorologists are taken care of it and you can get a bed, blanket, and a warm meal. On the other hand there is no warming, so therefore, you need to bring your one sleeping bag.

Itinerary

Day 1Krma valley (930 m) - Kredarica (2515 m)

We begin our adventure from Krma Valley with skins on skies, approximately 6 hours till arriving at the highest Slovenian mountain hut Kredarica on 2515 meters. Until this point on its not possible to continue with skies.

Day 2Kredarica (2515 m) - Mt. Triglav (2864 m) - descent to the valley

If you like to reach the top of Mt. Triglav, it’s additional 2 hours of climbing. However for that part you will require different equipment, like crampons and ice ax as well. Therefore, you should have some experiences with mountaineering in winter. In adddition, once reach the top there is also a nice tradition. When someone is on top of our highest mountain for the first time, it has to get whip 3 times with a rope.

Following decent to the Kredarica, then it’s just enjoyable ski touring, back to where we started in the Valley of Krma.

* THE GUIDE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ADJUST THE PROGRAM REGARDING THE WEATHER CONDITION AND PHYSICAL CONDITION OF THE PARTICIPANTS.
